Lawrence E. Ivey, Esq.

Lawrence E. Ivey is certified by the California State Bar as a Workers’ Compensation law specialist.  His 25+ years of experience involves litigating all facets of California workers’ compensation claims.   Mr. Ivey has appeared at almost every WCAB court in California and therefore has a keen understanding of the variances in procedure and interpretations of law at these different venues.

There are three characteristics that make Mr. Ivey stand out in the workers' compensation field: he is entirely undaunted when assigned a case of extraordinary difficulty or substantial risk, he is an outstanding trial tactician and throughout all, he is an amiable and consummate professional.  Mr. Ivey’s litigation skills are recognized throughout the workers’ compensation industry by his peers, judges, and the claims industry.  Because of these skills he has taught classes and conducted seminars about court procedures, discovery, fraud and trial tactics, etc.

Mr. Ivey also served as an officer in the Workers’ Compensation Defense Attorney’s Association.  For many years he also taught a workers' compensation course entitled “Advanced Workers’ Compensation Law” for the Insurance Education Association (I.E.A.).

He graduated from UCLA in 1979 with a degree in Political Science and was then admitted to Law School at the University of San Diego where he received his Juris Doctorate in 1982.  His experience includes liability defense, workers’ compensation defense, and SIU/Fraud litigation.  He is a member of the State Bar of California, Workers’ Compensation Law Section and the Workers’ Compensation Defense Attorney’s Association. Mr. Ivey and his firm are rated AV Preeminent by Martindale-Hubble.  This rating is the highest possible score.  Less than approximately 14.8% of attorneys in the United States are rated this highly.
